Nimrud Baito is currently the Minister of Tourism in the Kurdistan Regional Government cabinet. An ethnic Assyrian, Nimrud belongs to the Assyrian Patriotic Party, as he is the party's secretary general. He is a strong supporter of annexing the Assyrian homeland (Nineveh plains) to Kurdistan's government. He has accused rival Assyrian party leader of Zowaa, Yonadam Kanna, of being a former Baathi agent.
