Nima (name)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hebrew female name (and in some cases, male) Nima means:thread or Melody. Meaning in Persia: Just, Someone who treats others right, fair and small.

Comments: "Nima" in Persian is composed of (Nim + a). In Persian, "Nim" means half, and "a" in here is a suffix which makes the whole word subjective. So the meaning of the whole world would be someone who shares something in two halves.

Nima has different meaning in different languages. The female (and even male sometimes) name nima (nimah , nimat, nimat) means blessing, mainly.

Nima was also a famous Iranian poet Nima Yooshijn and some believe that's where the name is originated from. Nima Yooshij was a pen name of a famous revolutionary poet of Iran. Nima also has the meaning of "name" in old arabic. Some speculate that Nima Yooshij called himself Nima as a poetic gesture.
