Nilópolis

Nilópolis is a city and a municipality located in the Rio de Janeiro state's southwestern region, bordering São João de Meriti, Mesquita, Rio de Janeiro state, and with a population of 153,712 inhabitants living in an area of 19.16 km².

Nilópolis was part of hereditary captainship of São Vicente that belonged to Martim Afonso de Sousa in 1531. It is also the home of Beija Flor Samba School.
