[edit] Need help for British Raj article
It seems like a small group of people have taken over the British Raj article. The article is now painting British Raj in a positive light while hiding all the atrocities that british committed. See discussion at [1]. Your help and help of others (who you know have an interest in this topic) is solicited and appreciated. Desione (talk) 16:28, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] VT image
Nikkul, The Image:Vict.jpg was good find! I saw that flickr had a higher resolution available and therefore replaced your upload with the higher resolution version and corrected the license version (cc-by-2.0 rather than cc-by-2.5). Cheers. Abecedare 02:27, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
- To see all the versions, look just above the top-left corner of the image on flickr for "All sizes". Then you can see all the available sizes, and if the license is compatible (and the image has encyclopedic value) you can upload it on wikipedia. By the way, make sure to update the license version while/after uploading - you can do so by simply editing the license section and hand editing the license template to, say, {{cc-by-2.0}}, {{cc-by-sa-2.0}} etc. That will ensure that no one deletes these images from wikipedia due to incorrect licensing information. Hope that helps! Abecedare 02:53, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

- I updated the Image:Vidhana Soudha.jpg image that you had uploaded to a higher resolution version and correct license. If/when you have the time, perhaps you can go over your flickr uploads and re-upload the highest resolution versions. Cheers. Abecedare 02:57, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image
Hi, thanks for uploading Image:Bangalore.jpg. When uploading CC-attrib or CC-SA-Attrib images, it is important to indicate the exact source (url) and author's name. I would appreciate it if you clarify the source and author of the image since the image is still liable to be deleted without this information. Thanks AreJay 15:30, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

Nice find for the BSE image. Hope we can get one that also contains the "rotunda" though ...
By the way, Image:Bulltemple.jpg is copyrighted [2] and will have to be deleted from wikipedia soon. Perhaps the photographer can be requested to release it under the CC/CC-BY license and then it can be reuploaded. Cheers. Abecedare 01:49, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] A note about your pics
Hey Nikkul, nice pics you've started adding there. But I must say that pics like the Yamuna and the Mumbai bandstand one may not make the grade. They're nice pics and can make nice posters or wallpapers.. but I dont think they have enough 'distinguishing features' in them to make them encyclpedic/worthy of the India page. What I mean is.. unlike the Kerala backwaters pic, which is a signature postcard of Kerala, the Yamuna pic especially has nothing in it to convey that it is the Yamuna.. it could be a pic of a sunset by any river. Right? Anyway, these are my first thoughts. I suggest that you go a little slow with adding pics to that page till more people weigh in. That page is only meant to be a sort of a test page. [edit] Mumbai port and airport data
I am not sure if the data applied only to Mumbai's air traffic, or to both sea and air traffic.
Anyways, the first link applies to Mumbai's premier position as a sea port. In the next line, we speak of Mumbai handling half of India's sea (in context) and air (out of context) traffic. I think we need to introduce Mumbai's sea port (already done in the first line) and airport before mentioning the quantum of traffic being handled.

[edit] Question
I was just perusing around, and I stumbled upon your userpage. I saw the prices (in lakhs) of the cars and house bottom of the page, and I thought that it couldn't be right. What exactly are you basing your figures off of? For example, I have a Honda Civic, and I know for a fact that it did not cost 10 lakhs ($25,000 at current rate), even if you count all the other extraneous charges, in addition to the MSRP of the car. Cheers, Nishkid64 (talk) 03:13, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
- Ah okay, thanks for the explanation. My parents have a Civic in my hometown in New Jersey. I'm a freshman in college, so you can guess what my age is. Is that how old you are also? Nishkid64 (talk) 05:39, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] User:Otolemur_crassicaudatus
Could you take a look at the recent edits of User:Otolemur crassicaudatus, in particular, these diffs ,which are in retaliation to my AfD'ing some of his more egregiously bigoted articles[([4] and [5])[6][7][8][9][10][11]. I find his remarks particularly extremist , offensive and progressively degenerating into paranoia and hysteria and feel that a more experienced editor should handle him. [edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:AI India.gif)
Thanks for uploading Image:AI India.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 07:31, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Delhi
I think you are a bit confused between demographics and culture. Demographics is about the linguistic, ethnic and religious characteristics of the populace. Culture is about.. festivals, popular locations, art, cuisine etc. So, keeping that in mind, an image on Connaught Place has got nothing to do with demographics. Besides, we already have an image on the same fountains in the economy section. I hope this helps. Cheers --74.140.120.11 (talk) 05:58, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Kolkata images
Hi! After a pretty long sorta edit-war between you and me on the images in Kolkata article, I thought to discuss it with you.
Regarding the slum image, you tell that slums do not represent all of Kolkata demographics. Yes, I agree that it does not represent all of Kolkata demographics. For that matter, there is no single image that represent all of the demographics of any city. As the article says, "1.5 million people, who constitute about a third of the city's population, live in 2,011 registered and 3,500 unregistered (occupied by squatters) slums." So, the slum image does represent almost one third of the dwellings. So, it is not merely ornamental in that article.
Regarding the flower vendors image, you say "flower vendors have little to do with economy". Well, it could be vendor of any other kind, like fruit vendor, grocery vendor, or, other hawkers. I am not argumenting in favour of flower vendors only. What I wanna say is, vendors are a part of informal sector of economy, which, according to the article, "until recently ... comprised more than 40% of the labour force." For example, "roadside hawkers generated business worth Rs. 8,772 crore (around 2 billion U.S. dollars) in 2005" (I admit I do not have recent data though). The economy section of the article, so, will be very much representative of the city economy if there are two images—one from IT sector (the booming sector of the day), and one vendor (or any other informal sector image), which has traditionally been a major part of the economy of the city.
Moreover, if you see the FAC of the article, you will see that these two images were particularly praised for giving ,"...an almost tangible understanding of the city to the page" by an uninvolved reviewer. So, I don't see any reason not including those 2 images. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 06:10, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Nikkul, You are removing images from Kolkata page without discussing anyone. May I ask where did you get consensus for those removals and even for addition of the pie chart on religions in Kolkata. People are discussing about images the talk page of Kolkata. Have you decided not to share your views there? Mentioning your opinion (and its yours only) in edit summary may not be sufficient. You can click the discussion button on top of Kolkata page to reach the talk page. HTH.GDibyendu (talk) 05:15, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Nikkul. Could you please discuss removing images from the article before removing them? It helps when there is a consensus on a particular action. Instead of going about your own way, please state the reason for your removal and addition of images in the articles talk-page. Any action to the contrary will now be reported to the administrators. Thank You. CSumit (talk) 07:18, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Uncyclopedia
Hello Mr Nikkul
I like to edite the other project mentioned above, now and then. I noticed that you were banned for being a sock puppet, what happened there. Also I was reading through the India article and I noticed this weird section [12] and this image [13]that you were trying to remove. Can you please give your thoughts about these sections because I want to try and change it or either remove it. Thanks man 121.44.93.99 (talk) 02:54, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] India military image
I am updating the India page with a new image of the Arjun MBT. I don't want you to change it as you did with other images. This one is a real good one of the Arjun MBT. Thank you. Chanakyathegreat (talk) 10:23, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
So what? You want image of an Arjun at an exhibition decorated with flower pots. It's not possible with tanks. Tanks are meant to get dirty in the mud and when they move it's obvious that dust will rise. I don't think the image is unsuitable for viewing. Such an image is much more realistic. The Sukhoi image is there for a long time and the Arjun image is required.Chanakyathegreat (talk) 02:40, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] New Delhi map
You have deleted the New Delhi map three times now. This is a map that provides exactly the information I was interested in when I visited the New Delhi page in the first place: namely, how New Delhi is situated with respect to Delhi. The first time, you deleted it without any comment, so I put it back. The second time, you said it had nothing to do with History, so I put it in the Geography section. The third time, you have just said it's "not needed" and I don't know how to respond to that. So please tell me, how would you like to convey the relation between Delhi and New Delhi to curious readers? --P3d0 (talk) 03:26, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
- The one in the infobox does not show New Delhi's relation to Delhi. It shows New Delhi's location in India. If that's your only objection, I'll go ahead and re-add the other map. --P3d0 (talk) 13:24, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Hello there. It would mean a lot to me if you could help make an argument on the talk of the city template of the United Kingdom. [edit] Your changes in Delhi
Hi, u might remeber our earlier conversations where I told u that your pic. should be used on the Bangalore page. If u go to Flickr and search UB Towers 2. u made a comment to use the image on Wikipedia he has agreed to let it be used. I sent him a Flickr mail to ask the same thing. He has given both of us permission to use it on wikipedia. If u want to upload it u can.
On the delhi page i changed the image of a fountain in cannought place and replaced it with a picture of highrise buildings. The fountain image doesnt really show cannought place and the buildings behind. I would like if u let me change the image.
Another thing make the bangalore page better. If u can pl. upload a image about bangalore's newest busses (VOLVO) Manaspunhani 11:07, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Regarding demographic table on Mumbai.
Nikkul, you instantly removed the demographic table I had added on Mumbai's page. Only a person like you can do such an act. You are giving me example of Chennai, Kolkatta, etc.... which clearly shows how limited your knowledge is for FA related city articles. Your best is limited to adding shiny pictures from Flickr to these cities only. And then keep fighting with all the other good Wikipedians about it. You are best known for such a nuisance only. I would suggest start doing some more research. The reason these Indian cities do not have data from past census(1951, 1961, 1971, 1981, 1991) is because it is not freely available. Census website gives data for only 2001 and so all cities have this data. Even the tiniest village will have latest census information. I challenge you to come up with census data for any one Indian city since 1951 census(with authentic source). After you do that tell me how much time you needed to do this research.
Don't just revert other's hard researched work only because YOU feel it so. If this is rare information then you need to discuss it first on talk page. Ask questions - like if it is correct or not, what is source, etc. Plain removal with comments that you feel it so is clearly vandalism. I have given the source (also authentic only as per Wikiproject India guidelines that census of India from govt site only). And now let me give you examples like you gave to me - ladakh, gangtok, Youngstown, Ohio, Belgrade, new york, Boston, Massachusetts. All of these are FA and all have similar information. See? My examples include cities from India and rest of world.
Just FYI, I am adding the table back. --gppande «talk» 07:58, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
- Oh my God ! I am ready for the discussion on talk page. But please make sure you abide by the decision. See on the same Mumbai talk page, you had gone against the consensus and removed the BMC logo from Mumbai page only because you thought so. --gppande «talk» 07:44, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for uploading images/media to Wikipedia! There is, however, another Wikimedia Foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media.
