Nik Beauchemin was signed by the San Diego Padres but didnt start out as a MLB player. he didnt make it in spring Training so they put him in AA as a San Diego Bear. 4 months later he was promoted up to AAA. He was then a AAA San Diego Beaver.

But by the end of the 2006 season he was released by San Diego because San Diego said they didn't need him on their franchise.

Although Nik was able to pick which team he goes to. He picked San Francisco Giants. Many people rumored that Nik chose San Francisco because he wanted to get revenge on San Diego. But Nik denied it when asked on ESPN Sportscenter.

Nik Beauchemins rookie season was one of the best rookie seasons of all time. He ended up having 55 HR and *282 hits (*-season record for hits) But also his rookie season was one of the most disappointing. He was the #1 contender for MVP, Hank Aaron Award, and Slugger of the Year Award. But during a game he suffered shoulder seperation. The MLB doctors told him not to play through it so he didn't. He was then knocked off all the MLB awards lists. Nik wasnt aware of this until another player was given the award. Not just the injury but the San Francisco Giants lost in the playoffs in a shutout series while Nik Beauchemin didnt play in any of those games.

Nik Beauchemin has right now about 113 hits on the 2008 season with 14 HR and has about 395 hits on his career and has 197 career RBI and has a two year average of .587. Nik has 38 SB (Stolen Bases)and with a .950 Stolen Base %. Nik now has a two-year contract with San Francisco for $410,000.
