Talk:Nik Antropov

[edit] Nik or Nikolai
I saw that someone anonymously created a "Nikolai Antropov" article ... and arbitrarily copied and pasted the contents of the "Nik Antropov" article, and change that into a redirect into the "Nikolai" article without any regard of the "Move" tab on top! In fairness, I also made that same mistake when I was a newby ... but I have now reverted those changes back to before all that happened! All that said, it had me contemplating the following question: Are you all in favour of keeping the article as Nik Antropov ... or having it changed to Nikolai Antropov? Personally, I'm in favour of keeping it as is! The media has referred to him by his shortened name over the years rather than by "Nikolai"! Your thoughts, please. Amchow78 20:08, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
- There are two main sources for player info: the NHL (Nik) and the NHLPA (Nikolai). Most media sources follow the NHL's example and use Nik. Personally I would say that the NHLPA as his union would be truer to his wishes, but otherwise Wikipedia:Naming conventions (common names) should provide guidance. Either way, the "losing" name should redirect to the actual article. ccwaters 20:28, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
