Nikola Kaloyanov (Cyrillic: Никола Калоянов) was born on June 14, 1934 in Bulgaria. He started his career as a teacher and school principal in the town of Sozopol. His enthusiasm and energy were noticed and he soon became Deputy Mayor of the popular resort town's City Council. In 1972, he took the post of Mayor -- the next 15 years of his life he dedicated to improving the burgeoning city's infrastructure and urban development program. Nikola Kaloyanov is remembered as Sozopol's most popular and influential mayor.
