[edit] Biography

Ironically, Nikki's father worked as a shopkeeper himself for many years. This helped her prepare for the role of a shopworker herself. She is the first and only person in her family to achieve success in the acting industry but continues to take school work seriously, achieving an A* in Drama GCSE and a further 2 A's in English at Whitcliffe Mount School in Cleckheaton.

She made an appearance at the British Soap Awards 2006 and National Television Awards 2006. She also attended the Birmingham Mela 2006 alongside Bollywood actor Ajay Devgan in a panel named "How to make it into film and television". The live interview and answer process was, "the scariest thing I've done to date, yet the most rewarding".

She gave an interview hoping to, "break stereotyped images of Asian people on a whole". She aimed, with her words and advice, to inspire young Asian people to, "do what they want in life".

[edit] Professional life

To this point, Patel has had great success making it as an actress. She attended three auditions and won parts for all three.

She was nominated for Most Popular Newcomer award at the National Television Awards 2006 but lost out to Charlie Clements. In 2006 she was named an 'Icon' alongside Aishwarya Rai.
