Nikephoros Melissenos or Nicephorus Melissenus was one of many eleventh-century Byzantine generals who tried to take the throne.
Nicephorus had married Eudocia Comnenos. Her brother Alexius Comnenos was ordered to march against him, Alexius fled west instead of east and had himself declared emperor. Nicephorus then sent an embassy to Alexius which proposed a division of the empire but Alexius did not accept this proposal. However when Alexius did come to power he gave Nicephorus the rank of Caesar.
