[edit] old picture
With MVP losing the gold to Matt Hardy and Randy Orton losing the title to Triple H, isn't this picture more of a spoiler that some will have the title again? Gamloverks (talk) 16:25, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
- Not neccessarily. Plans change, and this photo was probably taken a few months ago. Besides check out The Great American Bash (2007). Rey Mysterio's on the poster, but he didn't return until SummerSlam... ♥Nici♥Vampire♥Heart♥ 17:44, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
- Alright, I was just wondering about it. Gamloverks (talk) 14:52, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
They changed it!(I know but Undertaker might retain due to the new poster!Undertaker is my fav anyways.SimonKSK 16:19, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
I wonder if it'd be of encyclopedic interest to show in the article the various versions of the posters that were printed. It would show the historical changes of them and brighten up the article, obviously in the info box we should leave the finalised one, but if WWE keep this Night of Champions theme over the years, most years there will probably be last minute changes (like 'Taker to Edge last year etc.) and so maybe we could always show an archive of the changing champions posters. [edit] matches
I have added all the championships down as all titles will be on the line. --81.99.45.87 (talk) 05:37, 21 May 2008 (UTC)chrispowellathome. I also put TBA next to the championships.
- Okay, but we only place matches on here when they have been announced. None of the matches have been announced yet. Please do not add matches until they have been announced on WWE TV (Raw, Smackdown, or ECW) or WWE.com.--WillC (talk) 06:37, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
But we also know what titles will be on the line. --81.99.42.129 (talk) 05:34, 22 May 2008 (UTC)chrispowellathome
- Yes we know they will be at the ppv but we don't know if that is the exact matches that will be there. There could be Champions vs Champions matches or unification matches. Also matches are only to be placed on there after they have been announced on WWE TV or on WWE.com. And wwe.com has no matches on the card yet and wwe has only said a few words about. No matches have been announced besides one. So no matches are to be placed on there besides the ECW title match.--WillC (talk) 06:34, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
As soon as they say something officially along the lines of "all championships will be defended", or "eight championship matches", then they're going to be added. Mshake3 (talk) 21:27, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- they said exactly that at one night stand in a preview for night of champions. Diivoo (talk) 10:52, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
I think that Shawn Michaels should challenge Chris Jericho for the Intercontinental Championship —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.225.75.180 (talk) 23:20, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Batista vs. Edge
Batista vs. Edge for World Heavyweight Championship was announced on Smackdown yesterday and should be on this page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jdog3628 (talk • contribs) 12:12, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Eight Annual?
Would it really be considered the Eight annual Night of Champions? Seeing as the first 7 years are Vengeance and the last of the 7 was Vengeance: Night of Champions, technically this is the first year of the official Night of Champions and the second year of a PPV with the name Night of Champions in the title. 68.37.181.21 (talk) 01:56, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
- It is still the same event, like Taboo Tuesday and Cyber Sunday, and per this article the events continued annually as they carry the same lineage.--SRX 02:31, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
- That's not an accurate comparision. Taboo Tuesday and Cyber Sunday are the same style interactive PPV. Saying in the lead that there have been eight NOC events is 100% wrong. Mshake3 (talk) 21:26, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- I have elaborated it more in the lead.--SRX 22:27, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- Well you elaborated it inaccuratly. They're not the same event. Mshake3 (talk) 22:48, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

- WWE. The name of last years event was Vengeance Night of Champions, this year it's just called Night of Champions, you do the math.SRX 23:12, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- I think this debate will be ended when WWE.com put the 2008 NOC website up and we can see what they say under "history" 217.42.3.42 (talk) 08:56, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
- WWE recongnizes Night of Champions as carrying the lineage of Vengeance. http://www.wwe.com/shows/nightofchampions/ - scroll down a bit to the pic with Edge. Gavyn Sykes (talk) 21:36, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- See Mshake, nothing to worked up about. =)SRX--LatinoHeat 22:25, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Don't delete matches
The page has already listed the FACT that all championships will be defended thus the current entries are correct and have indirectly been announced. If that doesn't sway you then remember it will be easier to enter the actual competitors when they are announced. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.172.40.244 (talk) 10:54, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
true all eight will be on the line but there could be a champion vs. champion match. plus it is consensus not to add matches until they are announced on wwe.com or raw, smackdown, or ecw. 1362talk 13:57, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- Exactly what 1362 stated, per consensus at WP:PW, matches (even if they are known before hand) are not to be added until WWE announces them, because they could easily make it a champion vs champion match, a unification match, or a new title could be introduced, etc.--SRX--LatinoHeat 14:26, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- So if a WWE commercial announces that there'll be eight championship matches, then all eight title defenses can be added. Mshake3 (talk) 17:24, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- But how are they being defended? What if the Tag Titles are to be unified, for example? That would mean one less match. What if there's plans to re-instate the Cruiserweight Title? There's still too many variables. We should just add what's specifically announced, when it's announced. Hazardous Matt 18:06, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- So if a WWE commercial announces that there'll be eight championship matches, then all eight title defenses can be added. Mshake3 (talk) 17:24, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- Ok last year they had the same deal, all championships on the line, they almost did not have the Tag Team titles from SD defended, but it was added on the last minute, which is why we can't predict the future.--SRX--LatinoHeat 21:07, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Your all arguing that matches shouldn't be added as they may change, but even if they are announced by WWE they could still more than likely change leading up to the event. Basically the possibility of matches changing is the same on top of the fact as stated above all 8 championships will be defended in 8 seperate matches- meaning no unification matches or new titles.
- agree. The commercial says, all titles will be defended. so we can add that info now. but then - what if the draft (1 week prior to night of champions) mixes things up? maybe they change matches after the draft? considering that, i think, we shouldn't add matches at all... the embarrassment would be HUGE if we add something, that is changed afterwards! please note the irony here... Diivoo (talk) 11:02, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
We shouldn't even be discussing this. We are a second hand source. WWE is the first hand source, and in light of that we should follow the first hand source and ad what the first hand source has for matches. So what if it changes, WWE looks more stupid compared to us since their the first and most reliable source. So don't delete matches and stick to what WWE is saying. Edge Vs Batista confirmed on Smackdown! Also Nattie Neidhard "Advanced to Night of Champions".... presumably to fight Mickie James. —Preceding unsigned comment added by M1j1browning (talk • contribs) 11:58, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
- Okay. Thank you. It will be added once it's confirmed on WWE.com or once the broadcast airs. Hazardous Matt 13:00, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Just wanted to make a note for those who don't understand. READ the article first, and also, please make note of the banner at the top that reads "The Card is subject to change", please? Some people just don't get it, there's always some needless discussion on EVERY PPV page about future matches.--Lord Dagon (talk) 14:01, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Edge Vs Batista
Edge Vs Batista has been announced on smackdown! I thought I would say this because I dont know how to edit it properly, can someone else do it. And please dont say prove it, just watch Smackdown tomorrow and you will see i am right! 86.158.45.26 (talk) 17:45, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
- Again, it will be added once it is on WWE.com or Smackdown has aired. Please see WP:PW for more information. Hazardous Matt 18:02, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
- When stated "when SmackDown! airs" it means anywhere on WWE TV, just to make it clear.--SRX--LatinoHeat 18:03, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

- During the ENTIRE broadcast, the match was never said to be at Night of Champions. Thus, it still can't be added. Gavyn Sykes (talk) 02:16, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

- The match is stated of taking place on Batista's entry [1]
[edit] New title in the WWE (WWE Diva Championship)
On the last Smackdown there was a Golden Dream match in which the winner would go to Night of Champions to crown the first champion. Natalya (Nattie Niedhart) won it. I think it should be added to the card. Check the Power 25 for proof. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jaro Link (talk • contribs) 20:03, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Yeah it is goiung to be defended at Night Of Champions —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.187.205.161 (talk) 22:15, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
We don't know that for sure all we know is it could mean she get a shot at the Woman title I mean remember the last time this happens come on people their not adding a other title use common sense supermike (talk —Preceding comment was added at 20:58, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
- I watched the segment and Vickie said that Smackdown is getting a women's title. And that the first champion would be crowned at Night of Champions. That is pretty clear. and she called it the Divas Championship. Not the Women's title. There is a new title and the first champion will be crowned at Night of Champions. Which makes no sense because WWE's women's division sucks.--WillC 21:02, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
That does not mean anything remember back in 2005 when John cena was sent to Raw they were going to make a smackdown world title well that all change when the world title got trade to smackdown This is juts like that and as for the WWE women's division sucking when were woman ever good at wrestling EVER that when supermike (talk —Preceding comment was added at 22:20, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
- It is possible but this is in a totally different way. If the Women's Champion is drafted to SD then Raw is left without a title. Also there is no champion on this title so it can't change brands. If the Women's title is drafted to SD then Raw would have to make another title. Anyway I don't think WWE would start the storyline if the title is never going to be made. When the draft in 05 happened over many weeks.--WillC 22:28, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
You do know the womans title is defend on both shows Trust me All the news site have said there no new woman title being made it was shot down by Vince supermike (talk —Preceding comment was added at 22:55, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] WWE Draft Effects?
This one is going to be hard to do or put a SET title in place because they're going to have the WWE draft like the week before this PPV airs, which means any match is not guaranteed or set in stone because any one star could be shifted over to a different brand. For example, Edge could get drafted over to Raw unless Batista followed him over, Edge would have to get another opponent or this might not matter and be a Raw vs. Smackdown kind of match, or Batista and John Cena could switch places, meaning Cena would face Edge, and Batista would face Triple H. Of course, this is all purely speculation. I just think we have to keep in mind that the WWE draft could in turn change the PPV. Gamloverks (talk) 22:40, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
- Last year the draft was the week before Vengeance: Night of Champions. Micheal Cole said even if Batista is drafted to Raw he would still get his match against Edge for the WHC. Also any champions that are drafted will probably have their title vacated. So these matches are probably going to stay the way they are because WWE wouldn't put time, effort, and money in each match if they are going to be change them.--WillC 23:10, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
-
- WillC is quite correct. They wouldn't spend 4 weeks building up a match that won't happen. I don't think that the draft will influence this PPV at all. -GuffasBorgz7- 23:49, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
- This would be a problem if the draft was actually random. WWE wouldn't make such a bad business decision like that. Gavyn Sykes (talk) 02:00, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

- IIRC, the only title that was vacated by draft was the ECW Championship in the '07 draft, and in every other instance the title went with the champion. So I'm thinking that if any champion besides Kane gets drafted, then they would most likely drop their title to the NOC opponent. Pure speculation though. [edit] Ted DiBiase Jr
Just to be 100% correct, could someone add the "Jr." to his name, it says "Ted DiBiase", but links to Ted DiBiase Jr.'s page. Right now it makes it look like the Million Dollar Man is in the match, not his son. 96.227.50.211 (talk) 02:27, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
