Talk:Nigel Havers

<sigh> still the childish vandalism of this page continues.
If you think that Mr. Havers is well-known for "hatred of cyclists" then perhaps you should provide some citations for this. In the mean time, I'm going to continue to delete that whenever you put it back. DrHydeous 21:42, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
Thankyou for providing your source for that. It still doesn't show that he hates cyclists though, so I've corrected the text to merely point out that he wrote an attack on inconsiderate cyclists. DrHydeous 17:31, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
Sorry DH, but I disagree. From the article in the Mail:
- "Pomposity and selfishness runs through everything committed cyclists do."
and
- "Cyclists have certainly changed in recent years. They think the rest of us are idiots and that they are the gods of the road."
and
- [insert spurious red herring argument about environmentalism here]
The article is cloaked as an attack on inconsiderate cyclists but only weakly so. Havers' agenda is visible from start to finish; he conflates all cyclists with "two-wheeled monsters", despite his odd admittance to owning a bike himself.
However, I won't undo your changes; others can make up their own minds. -- Earle Martin [t/c] 23:37, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
- The passage is certainly too long, but not irrelevant. I've tidied the article so that the "family and private life" and "controversy" sections are clearly separate from his career. The "trivia" section also contained significant material, so I incorporated it ito the main body of the article. Philip Cross 10:40, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
