Night and Day is Joe Jackson's fifth album, released in 1982. The title is from a Cole Porter song, and the album reflects a transition to a more sophisticated level of songwriting. The hits "Steppin' Out" and "Breaking Us In Two" put Jackson on the map, the latter of which was widely notable for borrowing the opening melody of Badfinger's "Day After Day".
