Nigel Pivaro

Nigel Pivaro (born 11 December 1959) is an English actor best known for playing Terry Duckworth, the son of Vera and Jack Duckworth in Coronation Street.

Pivaro was born in Manchester, England. He made his acting debut in 1983 when he won the part of Terry Duckworth in the long running British soap opera Coronation Street. Nigel left the soap in 1987, after 4 years of playing the role and returned in 1992 making many re-appearances throughout the 1990s and early 2000s with his stints lasting a week, month or a few months. His last appearance in the series was on January 28th 2008 when his character attended the funeral of his mother Vera. Apart from Coronation Street Pivaro made a guest appearance in the television series Hetty Wainthropp Investigates and Expert Witness. He also made a cameo appearance in the British film 24 Hour Party People.

He has also acted in theatre productions in his time away from Coronation Street most notably touring alongside fellow soap actor John Altman, (Nick Cotton in EastEnders), in the John Godber stage play Bouncers.

In 2007 he became a journalist for the Reporter and Chronicle Newspaper Group based in Stalybridge, Tameside.

In 2006, Nigel graduated from the University of Wales in Aberystwyth with a master's degree in MSc in Social Science and Economics, specialising in Terrorism and International Relations. Nigel hopes to leave acting and pursue a journalistic career.

In 2006, Pivaro's home in Salford, Greater Manchester was raided by police after they had been tipped off that Pivaro was in possession of a firearm.

Nigel is married and has two children.
