Nigel Don

Nigel Don (born April 16, 1954) is a Scottish politician. A member of the Scottish National Party (SNP), he was elected to the Scottish Parliament to represent North East Scotland region at the 2007 election.

Prior to his election Don was a councillor for Ninewells ward and SNP Group Convenor on Dundee City Council. He was elected in May 2007 to the multi-member Lochee ward but quit his role as councillor on 23 August 2007.

Nigel is a member of the following Cross-Party Groups:

- Member of the Cross-Party Group in the Scottish Parliament on Construction

- Member of the Cross-Party Group in the Scottish Parliament on Oil and Gas

He also serves as Parliamentary Liaison Officer (PLO) to Kenny MacAskill MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Justice. The post of PLO is unpaid and is intended to support the Cabinet Secretary in developing and maintaining a positive and constructive relationship between the Scottish Parliament and the Scottish Government.

According to his register of interests, he is a professional musician (performer, teacher, arranger and composer) and derives an income of between £10,001 - £15,000 per annum from this, although he expects this to drop to £2001 - £3000 as his current pupils transfer to other teachers. He is also an unrenumerated director of Masterclass Music Ltd, a music publishing business which is not trading.

He is an elder and organist at Logie and St John’s (Cross) Parish Church, Dundee.
