[edit] Demetrios Pepagomenos

Could you expand the article possibly? For example, what impact did his discoveries have?

ShakespeareFan00 11:36, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

-Hi shakespearefan00, i originally made the Byzantine Medicine article, but not many people helped with it! It is hard to do this kind of thing with no help.

[edit] Atheist-Islamic Alliance

An important message
Please be extremely careful when adding material to articles or talk pages that it does not involve defamation (if you don't know what defamation is, read this). Comments that defame an individual may leave you open to being sued by them. Your status here, whether as a signed-on user or as an anonymous IP, would not protect you. Someone you defame could get a court order instructing your server to supply your details to them. They could then sue you for damages. Remember, while Section 230 of the United States Communications Decency Act protects Wikipedia from being sued for defamation, it may not protect the person who posted a defamatory claim on a Wikipedia page.

Furthermore, the Board of Wikipedia has ruled that: Where the user has been vandalising articles or persistently behaving in a disruptive way, [personal information] data may be released to assist in the targeting of IP blocks, or to assist in the formulation of a complaint to relevant Internet Service Providers. (Full information on Wikipedia privacy policy here)

This box has been placed on your talk page because another Wikipedian suspects that, perhaps innocently, you may have defamed someone in your contributions. Please recheck your edits. Do not make allegations against someone unless you have provided evidence from a reliable publication, and then make sure you describe the allegations in accordance with our content policies, particularly Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:No original research. Don't rely on hearsay, rumours, or things you believe without evidence to be facts, and don't use sources to create a novel narrative. Wikipedia requires reliable sources for all claims.

If you have defamed someone, you may be blocked without warning from editing Wikipedia. If you find that you have inadvertently defamed someone in an article, do two things:
1. Remove the defamation from the article immediately.
2. Hit this link and leave a note on that page saying that you accidentally left defamatory claims in named article. (Don't repeat the claims. They will be able to see from your edit removing them what they were.) A developer will then delete the claim from the page history

Once that is done, and the defamation is gone completely from our records, the problem should be solved.

You have been temporarily blocked from editing for vandalism of Wikipedia. Please note that page blanking, addition of random text or spam, deliberate misinformation, privacy violations, and repeated and blatant violation of WP:NPOV are considered vandalism. If you wish to make useful contributions, you may come back after the block expires. —Xezbeth 20:49, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Greeks2.JPG

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Greeks2.JPG. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jkelly 19:39, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

Pictures were taken from the Greek Ministry of Culture website, as explained already. They are open to the public domain.
We need to see the actual source for each image, including its authorship. We'd also need some proof that images from the Ministry of Culture are in the public domain and that the Minsitry of Culture only uses its own images on its website instead of licensing them from other sources. Jkelly 19:59, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
How do I go about doing that? Ministry of Culture pictures are in the public domain, that is easy to prove, but how do I prove that they are the Ministry's own images? Why would they release them into the public domain if they were not Greek Ministry pictures? All I can find with relative to the latter are this:

Collection of material, writing, editing of texts: Pigi Kalogerakou, Aspasia Michanou, Dimitris Mylonas, Andreas Vlachopoulos

Texts were written by - the Ephorates of Antiquities and Monuments of the Ministry for the section "Cultural Heritage" - the services of the Ministry and the cultural organisations and institutes involved for the section "Modern and Contemporary Cultural Creation" - Prof. Chrysanthos Christou, Member of the Athens Academy for the introduction to "Visual Arts in Modern Greece" - Kostas Georgousopoulos, philologist and theatre critic, for the introduction to "Theatre in Greece" - the services of the Ministry for the sections "Great Projects of the Ministry", "Special Issues" and "Selected Cultural Events"

Source: http://www.culture.gr/

Actually, it would be great if you could demonstrate that material from Greece's Ministry of Culture was released into the public domain as a first step. Jkelly 22:41, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
Ok, I cannot find the relevant place on their site anymore, but for the El Greco image I used and cropped, it is already on wikimedia commons here:

For the Pericles one:

The others are all from HM of C. I sent them an email for verification of it. It hsould come frough within the next day.
