[edit] Daniel Brandt
Actually, decisions on whether to delete articles are made by consensus of all who chose to vote, not just admins. You can see the discussion on the Brandt article here. And your two cents is worth just as much as anyone else's, though you'll find that your credibility gradually increases as your contributions merit. Cheers! -- Mwanner | Talk 14:26, 19 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Great to hear from you.
Nick, thanks for the kind words. Always good to hear from a fellow Alabamian. I was looking through your user page and I must admit I'm quite impressed with your achievements. If you ever need any admin help here, or need anything else, please drop a line. Best,--Alabamaboy 14:39, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, I'd love to work togther on some articles. At the moment I'm already booked--another user and I are working to create Culture of the Southern United States, which we'd love to have another collaborator on. But once that's done I'm game for more articles. Best,--Alabamaboy 16:48, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
- Been to Mobile a number of times. In fact, I usually spend a week each year across the bay from Mobile in Gulf Shores. Please do check out the culture article. It's still pretty bare so anything you can add is welcome.--Alabamaboy 16:56, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
- Excellent additions to the article. In fact, the only critique I have is to ask if you have any references for some of the added info. I know what you added is correct but it would take the article to the next level if we added some references. BTW, do you know how to use inline references? If not, check out African American literature, an article I wrote that uses them. I can help add them if you have any. If not, no big deal. Thanks, --Alabamaboy 14:00, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

Oh yes, I thought what you added was really good. In fact, it was great. Best,--Alabamaboy 01:13, 1 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Re: History Portal
Hi Nick. In response to your query: Not at all. The selected article and picture have been set to rotate monthly up until the month of April. Feel free to add new features after the queue, although please follow previous formats (no thumbs, etc).--cj | talk 11:04, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
- See Portal:History/Featured article and Portal:History/Featured picture for upcoming features. It works similarly to Wikipedia:Today's featured article.--cj | talk 11:13, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
- There's no need to apologise. Sometimes my edit summaries can be terse, and give the wrong impression (oops). I'm very happy to see new interest in the portal. Happy editing, :)--cj | talk 11:29, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
- Actually, scratch that info about the references at African American lit. There's a new Mediawiki citation style. It's described at m:Cite/Cite.php. It works in much the same way as the ref/note template does, but it automatically generates your reference section for you. You can see an example article at Symphony No. 5 (Beethoven). I'm going to study this and implement it on the southern culture article. You might also want to check it out. Best,--Alabamaboy 16:20, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Culture of the Southern United States
Hi Nick. At the Talk page in Culture of the Southern United States, there is a long discussion about whether to include a quote from a 1917 article about tobacco chewing in the south. Is tobacco chewing an important aspect of southern culture? Please weigh in. Griot 19:23, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
