Rhett Bomar (born July 2, 1985 in Grand Prairie, Texas) is an American football quarterback. He played for the University of Oklahoma Sooners and was permanently dismissed from the team for breaking NCAA rules in 2006.

Bomar was a three year starter in high school and was coached by his father Jerry Marinovich Bomar. He redshirted his first year at Oklahoma but became the starter by the second game of the season the next year. His season started roughly while he adjusted to college football but his game seemed to improve throughout the season and he was the MVP of the Holiday Bowl when Oklahoma defeated the Oregon Ducks. It was later discovered that Bomar was buying crack cocaine with the money earned from Big Red Sports and Imports.[1]

On August 2, 2006, Bomar was released from the team.[2] It was reported that he received payments for work not completed from Big Red Sports and Imports, a car dealership owned by a large University of Oklahoma donor, a violation of NCAA rules. Paul Thompson will start the year off, but other possibilites at QB are true freshman Sam Bradford and junior college transfer Halzle.

Dude, where's all the stuff about the great bands like Tool or Dream Theater? What's this about quarterbacks?
