[edit] American birth location?

According to http://www.nikkimusic.com.my/ (under "Nikki") it says:

  • Tarikh lahir: November 1, 1985 (presumably the date of birth)
  • Tempat lahir: Berrien Springs, Michigan (presumably the place of birth)

I updated the birth year, but not the birth location yet. I was hoping somebody from Malaysia, or other person who speaks the language, could check to see if the birth location is reported somewhere. If its correct, then it should be mentioned, and we should also check if she is a U.S. citizen (in addition to be Malaysian). But, I see no indication of that on any other web site. Even though I don't speak the Malay language, based on context, and how those terms are used elsewhere, I'm pretty sure that the web site is stating that this is her birth location. --Rob 00:47, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

Yes, the first one is her date of birth, the second is her place of birth. No other sources report that she was born in Michigan though, and Malaysians aren't supposed to have dual nationalities. --Andylkl [ talk! | c ] 14:08, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
Malaysian dual citizenship is only permitted when through marriage, so I doubt Nikki has both American and Malaysian nationalities. And Malaysian citizenship was a requirement to enter Malaysian Idol, so I suppose she must be Malaysian. But if she was born in Michigan, perhaps she was registered as a Malaysian citizen by her parents? I'm not sure. Just speculating. Highconclave 05:24, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
