[edit] Revert Changes?

Formed in 1997, 98 Degrees had a successful second album named 98 Degrees and Rising. It was released at number 14 on the US charts, and the band started a nationwide tour to promote it. As the introduction act, a young girl named Jessica Simpson performed for the band and took an interest in the band member.

I think this change should be reverted to:

for the sake of clarity. Any objections? This page is now on my watchlist and I'll make the change about 24hrs after this post.

I edited the 98 Degrees section to make it more about the band than it previously was. I took out the bit that mentioned jessica simpson as their supporting act because i dont think it is really relevant to nick being a member of 98 degrees. i think references to jessica should be kept under the newlyweds and private life section

[edit] miami

this article says he attended miami but he frequently goes on talk shows saying he went to usc. where does the miami come from?

According to an article at http://ca.askmen.com/men/entertainment_150/185c_nick_lachey.html, he attended USC for a year and then went to Miami of Ohio. Brainslug 22:57, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Dropped

Nick recently got divorced from Jessica Simpson. He now wants a quarter of her earnings for the few years they were married, plus all the jewlery he gave her back. I mean, what's he going to do with it (the jewlery, not the money)? Wear it himself?! I see some bling bling in the future!

[edit] German-American parents?

Does anyone actually have a source for that? I realize he mentioned somewhere that he has some German ancestry, but this quite obviously does not immediately translate to "German-American parents' Mad Jack 02:29, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

If he has acknowledged that he is, indeed, part German, then it seems perfectly relevant to keep it as a category, esp. if that is the only thing he mentioned. Michael 04:04, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
Fair enough. Just the wording, "German-American parents", seemed wildly inaccurate Mad Jack 05:08, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
Hmm. Dropped by because I was wondering as to the source of the name; and from what I know about German, it's definitely not German. Reason I was curious is in the Chinook Jargon, lashey (spelled that way, or lashay) is "oats", from the French la seigle. Could it be his paternal family name is Native American, or had his family ever been in the Pacific Northwest (since not only Native Americans wound up with Chinook names)? Or could it be simply French....I know Kentucky's a long way from cajun country, but also there were lots of Canadian French who migrated south 1850-1950 or so....although la chey doesn't exist in French...not in that spelling anywaySkookum1 07:51, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

So no one's seen anything else on this? The only thing I really got was reading on some message board that he said he had German ancestry on the Newlyweds.... that doesn't particularly qualify as a reliable source, does it? Mad Jack 21:23, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

That's contrary to what you said above? Michael 23:23, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
Well, what I said above was, that, "I heard somewhere he mentioned he had German ancestry", which, is not a reliable source. Someone on an IMDB message board said that Lachey said on the show that he had German ancestry. Obviously, until we confirm that, we can't even say that he has German ancestry, much less that he is a German-American. The convo above took place on June 30, before we started strictly follow the "is X" NOR thing, so... Mad Jack 23:26, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

I meant: "Fair enough. Just the wording, "German-American parents", seemed wildly inaccurate Mad Jack 05:08, 30 June 2006 (UTC)". Michael 23:32, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Well, at the time, we were in the middle of a bunch of removals and I didn't want to get too much into this one, but the facts remain that 1. we don't have any reliable evidence we can cite that he has any German ancestry and 2. much less any that we should call him German-American. I can agree to him being German all I want, but, I'm not a reliable source. Mad Jack 23:34, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Ii would be interesting to add his heritage. If he's really from german ancestry, put it in the article.Nayo1163 (talk) 03:47, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The nude photos thing

I've removed the small paragraph about the nude photos. This is not Wikinews, and it's not important.DocRocks1 20:30, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

the nude photos thing should be removed

I think it will keep comming up, a simple one sentance regarding the topic should be included as a milestone along the path of his life.CholgatalK! 00:44, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

The article is currently locked, so I cannot edit this myself. The following sentence: "As of April 2007, the couple officially moved in together, purchasing and apartment in New York City's Atelier Condo Building, as well as sharing Lachey's home in Bel Air, California." should be changed to read: "As of April 2007, the couple officially moved in together, purchasing an apartment in New York City's Atelier Condo Building, as well as sharing Lachey's home in Bel Air, California."

[edit] Handsomeness and the show business ritual of sharing

Hello, all ! A few minutes ago I added a new paragraph to the section headlined "Vanessa Minnillo."

I am praying people don't call it "POV." I simply restated what certain supermarket tabloids have said for more than a year. That is, Mr. Lachey has continued to visit Hollywood nightclubs with an entourage of bodyguards. He has continued to notify female clubgoers, via the bodyguards, that he is interested in them. I added that Ms. Minnillo reportedly does not object to such behavior because she knows how handsome he is, and she knows about the compassionate show business ritual called "sharing." Please don't remove this ! Nick is handsome ! If you remove it and you are a male Wiki contributor, then you just wish you looked like Nick. Dream on. Nyannrunning (talk) 21:36, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Being that is an Encyclopedia and not a tabloid, none of that information is relevant to this article. Please discuss future gossip column contributions on the talk page before adding them to the article. Thanks NMBJ69 (talk) 21:54, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
