[edit] Merge

We seem to have 3 articles that are all about the same thing. Having checked Google again with resource partitioning, it seems to be even more popular than this term (1.8 million vs. 1.5 million). Which term should we use? Richard001 09:49, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

In fact, there is much difference between the two concepts. The article on niche differentiation is based on the idea that niches are segregated because of competition for resources. The article on species segregation accepts this as only one of the possible explanations, the other being the Wallace effect (reinforcement of reproductive barriers).—Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.187.175.83 (talk • contribs)

Well, reinforcement of reproductive barriers would be necessary for any sort of niche partitioning. If the two species merged into one, there would be no issue to talk about. Even if there are differences in these terms (I don't know enough about the subject to be sure) I think they should still be merged together, with the finer points highlighted if need be.
