Nicole Diar

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nicole Diar (born July 21, 1975) is an American convicted murderer and as of November 2007, one of only two women on death row in Ohio. The other woman is Donna Roberts, who was admitted to death row on November 7, 2007.[1][2] She was convicted in October, 2005 of killing her 4 year old son, Jacob. On August 27, 2003, she allegedly suffocated her son and then set his body and the house on fire. The day after she had buried Jacob, she was seen at a bar singing karaoke and dancing.[3]

She herself was a burn victim. At age four, she suffered severe burns over more than 20 percent of her body when her brother accidentally set fire to her nightgown.[4]

She had worked at summer camps for burn victims to help other children who were suffering from the stigma of having burn scars on their bodies.

The exact cause of Jacob's death was never determined because his body was too badly burned.
