Nicolaus is an unincorporated town in Sutter County, California, USA, in the Yuba City Metropolitan Statistical Area. Nicholaus is located 38.903N, -121.576W at an elevation of 30ft. It was named after Nicholaus Allgeier, local rancher, and the town's former names included Nicholaus Ferry, and Nicholaus' Ranche. The ZIP Code is 95659. The community is inside area code 530.

In the state legislature Nicolaus is located in the 4th Senate District, represented by Republican Sam Aanestad, and in the 2nd Assembly District, represented by Republican Doug LaMalfa. Federally, Nicolaus is located in California's 2nd congressional district, which has a Cook PVI of R +13[1] and is represented by Republican Wally Herger.
