Nick Weir

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nick Weir is an Australian-born British entertainer. He began his entertainment career on cruise ships, as a singer and comedian. In the mid 1990s he presented a daytime quiz show on ITV, called Waffle, and also teamed up with Lisa Rogers to present the show Grudge Match from 1999 to 2000. He stands at 6"6.

Also in 2000 Weir became Roy Walker's successor of the popular TV game show Catchphrase. During his first series he broke his foot (by falling down the stairs as he made his entrance to the studio floor) during a recording of the show. This incident was edited out but was shown in a later show to explain why he was suddenly in a cast and on crutches (Several shows were filmed each day and Weir worked through the pain barrier before leaving for hospital). He continued to present Catchphrase whilst his foot healed, wearing a trademark cast throughout many episodes of the show.

He presented Catchphrase until 2001, following which the show moved to daytime and former Blue Peter presenter Mark Curry hosted the show for the final series in 2002.
