Nicholas Pappas is a solicitor from Sydney, Australia, and also the current chairman[1] of the board for the South Sydney Rabbitohs Rugby league club.
Pappas' most significant involvement with the Rabbitohs prior to being chairman was his heading of the legal battle to keep the club in the National Rugby League (NRL). Once this was achieved, Pappas shortly replaced chairman George Piggins.
In 2006 Pappas supported the takeover of the club by Russell Crowe and Peter Holmes a Court. By that stage, under Pappas' leadership, the club had lost $1.5 million over that financial year. Many in the club were furious at the lack of leadership under Pappas.
Pappas is also principal, Nicholas G Pappas & Company Lawyers[2]; Member, Archdiocesan Council of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia; Chairman, Laiki Bank (Australia) Ltd; President, Powerhouse Museum Australia; Member, Council of the Australian Archaeological Institute at Athens and Board Member of the Steve Waugh Foundation.
Pappas has also written several books about the history of his parent's homeland, Castellorizo in Greece.
Pappas today lives in the Eastern suburbs of Sydney with wife Helene and teenage twins George and Marina.
