[edit] Career

He is an attack minded left-sided midfield player who was signed from Nottingham Forest. He has a lot of potential having impressed at youth and reserve team level.[citation needed] He made his debut as a late substitute against Kidderminster Harriers in the final away game of the 2004–05 season. He was a regular for the reserves in that season and scored a hat-trick in the home match against Lincoln City. Despite a good pre-season, he has spend most of the 2005–06 season in the reserves and out on loan to non-league clubs. Hegarty played a number of games in the 2006–07 season for new manager Alan Buckley. He was awarded a new one year deal in the summer of 2007.[1] He joined York City on a month's loan in September 2007,[2] but suffered a muscle strain which limited him to making two appearances during this spell.[3][4]
