Nicholas R. Evans (born January 30, 1986 in Glendale, Arizona) is a first baseman and outfielder in the New York Mets organization.
[edit] Professional career
Evans was called up from the Double-A Binghamton on May 24 2008 to replace Marlon Anderson, who had been placed on the disabled list. He started in left field for the Mets and batted eighth.
Evans hit 3 doubles, 2 of them in his first two Major League at bats, both off Colorado Rockies pitcher Jeff Francis. Evans was the first Major League Baseball player to have 3 extra-base hits in his major league debut since then-Mets infielder Kazuo Matsui in 2004[citation needed].
He was subsequently optioned back down to Binghamton on 6 June after batting .174 in nine games.
