Nick Carlton

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nick Carlton is a character in the movie The Big Chill (1983), portrayed by William Hurt.

He is a psychologist who failed to finish his dissertation and held various jobs, including that of drug dealer.

Nick is supposed to represent the "negative", or unrepentant element of the Babyboomer generation. He hasn't started a family or retained any relationships, and is the only one of the cast members to retain all of their original New Left radical beliefs, and hates all authority, especially police.
