Nick Ayers
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
James Nicholas "Nick" Ayers was the campaign manager of Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue's 2006 reelection bid[1] and now serves as the executive director of the Republican Governors Association, a position to which Perdue appointed him.[2] His work in getting Perdue elected twice (as the first Republican governor of the state since Reconstruction), as well as bringing the Republicans to power in the Georgia House of Representatives in 2004, has led to a reputation as a "rising star" and a "younger version of Karl Rove".[3]
A native of Cobb County, Georgia, Ayers attended Kennesaw State University and worked at a bank owned by former Georgia Governor Roy Barnes before leaving both to help Perdue defeat Barnes in 2002.
