Nicanor Costa Méndez
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nicanor Costa Méndez (born 1922 or 1923, died 1992) was the Argentinian ambassador to Chile between 1962 and 1964 and Chancellor from 1966 to 1969.[1]
Later he was Foreign Minister during the 1982 Falklands War between the United Kingdom and Argentina.[2] His duplicity[neutrality disputed] in his dealings with the United States Secretary of State, Alexander Haig, eventually led to a hardening of the US position with regard to support of the British effort to reclaim the Falkland Islands.[citation needed]
