Nicholas John Ungs (born September 3, 1979 in Dubuque, Iowa) is a minor league baseball pitcher, currently with the Nashville Sounds, Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers.
[edit] Minor league career
Ungs was first signed by the Florida Marlins on June 11, 2001, after being drafted in the 12th round of the 2001 amateur draft. He began the 2001 season with their Class A (Short Season) affiliate, the Utica Blue Sox. In 2002, he played for their Class A Kane County Cougars and Class A-Advanced Jupiter Hammerheads. He stared the 2003 season in Jupiter before being promoted to the Double-A Carolina Mudcats, where he remained during 2004 and 2005. Ungs made his Triple-A debut in 2006, playing for the Albuquerque Isotopes. After plaing for the Isotopes again in 2007, he received free agent status. During the offseason, he signed with the Milwaukee Brewers organization and was assigned to their Triple-A affiliate, the Nashville Sounds, for 2008.
