Niall MacGinnis was an Irish actor who made 80 screen appearances. He appeared in such major films as Hamlet, Martin Luther and Becket.

In 1957, he played the villainous Julian Karswell alongside American actor Dana Andrews in the cult classic British horror movie Night of the Demon (1957, U.S. title Curse of the Demon).

He played the role of the god Zeus opposite Honor Blackman as Hera in Jason and the Argonauts (1963).

MacGinnis was a qualified MD, and returned to practice during the 1970s after retiring from acting.

After refusing to appear[citation needed] in a coloured "book ending" tribute to the film The Edge of the World he died of cancer in Wales in 1977 and not 1978 as many people believe.[citation needed]
