The district was founded in 1958 with 4 schools: Maple Avenue Elementary School, Gaskill Middle School, Hyde Park Elementary, and Niagara Falls High School. The school number expanded (as of June 2007) to 11.

Geraldine J. Mann Elementary- Opened 1966

Maple Avenue Elementary School- Opened 1922
Hyde Park Elementary- Opened 1919
Niagara Street School- Opened 1919. The old Niagara Street School has been torn down. A new Niagara Street School has been built in the old school's place, and was opened in 2007.
