NHK World is the international broadcasting service of NHK (Nippon Hōsō Kyōkai, or Japan Broadcasting Corporation), Japan's public broadcaster. The primary target is its overseas audience.
"NHK World" is composed of three services: "NHK World Radio Japan", "NHK World TV", and "NHK World Premium". Some of the programs from NHK World are also available on its "Internet Service".

[edit] Radio Japan
Radio Japan (RJ or NHK World Radio Japan) broadcasts news, information, and entertainment programs focusing on Japan and Asia, for a daily total of 65 hours of broadcasts.
- Radio Japan's "General Service" broadcasts worldwide in Japanese and English.
- Radio Japan's "Regional Service" broadcasts to specific geographical zones in 17 languages: English, Arabic, Bengali, Burmese, Chinese, French, Hindi, Indonesian, Korean, Persian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swahili, Thai, Urdu , and Vietnamese.
- Both services are available via shortwave (SW), and some programs can be heard on the internet as well. See Radio Japan Online for more information, or Radio Japan Frequency Chart & Program Schedule for accessing via shortwave.

- NHK World TV distributes non-scrambled news and information programs worldwide via communications satellite, 24 hours a day. Anyone can watch free-of-charge with the specified antenna and tuner. See World TV On Air Guide for more information.
- The channel's programmes is shown in both Japanese and English (mostly), but some of it's programmes also broadcasts in Dual-Sound in both languages as well.

- NHK World Premium distributes NHK's news, information programs, sport, drama, etc. to satellite and cable stations around the world. Programs can be viewed by contract with local providers. See NHK World Premium for more information.
- Viewers in North America and Europe can watch TV Japan which requires only a mini-dish to receive. It is a service provided by local representatives of NHK in their respective regions. Viewers in Europe & the Middle East can watch NHK News Live on its JSTV broadcast via Hotbird 6 GlobeCast satellite @ 12597GHz(V).
