Small engraved map of New Haven circa 1832.

This hand colored map of New Haven, Connecticut first appeared in: John Warren Barber History and Antiquities of New Haven, (Conn.) (1831) and was a map that he had originally drawn and engraved himself. Since then, the book that it was first published in, has been revised and republished by different companies, the latest of which being in 1976 by the Rotary Club of Milford, Connecticut, but without the hand coloring to the original engraving. Further, the copy that the Rotary Club made was not from the original 1831 edition, but from a revised edition credited to Edward R. Lambert who had completely plaigerised his 1838 edition from J.W. Barber with, mind you, the sanction of the Clerk of New Haven in 1834 himself.
