One of his works caused a controversy in Vietnam recently. In a college entrance exam, an honors student answered a prompt regarding his poem "Văn tế nghĩa sĩ Cần Giuộc" (Elegy for the Can Giuoc Martyrs), saying that it was obtuse and boring and irrelevant to her. She failed the test but generated a firestorm of discussions on how to make historical writing relevant to modern students. DHN (talk) 20:49, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
