- This is a Vietnamese name; the family name is Nguyễn, but is often simplified as Nguyen in English-language text. According to Vietnamese custom, this person properly should be referred to by the given name Thinh.
Nguyễn Văn Thinh (1888 - 10 November 1946, Saigon) was the first President of Cochinchina. He became president on June 1, 1946, and died of an apparent suicide while still in office, on November 10.
