NGC 2608 (also known as Arp 12) is a spiral barred galaxy in the constellation Cancer; it is faint and dim due to its distance. It is shaped in an almost "Z" like fashion [4], and is considered a grand design spiral galaxy. [5] The galaxy was home to a supernova, dubbed "SN2001 bg" by astronomers; it was noted for its conspicuous brightness. [6]
