Ngang Pass (in Vietnamese: Đèo Ngang is a pass bordering two provinces Quang Binh and Ha Tinh, North Central Coast, Vietnam. Ngang Pass is situated on National Road 1A, is part of Hoanh Son, a range of Annamite Range. The pass is 2,560 m long with the peak of 250 m (750 ft).
From the peak of pass, visitors can enjoy the beautiful landscapes of fine sand beaches at the foot of the pass. On the peak lays Hoanh Son Quan (lit. Transverse Mountain Gate), a gateway built during Nguyen Dynasty to control transportation in 17th century. The pass used to be a dangerous segment due to the steep and winding road. A modern tunnel has since bypassed the climb, shortening the driving time through the pass as well as making it safer for drivers. The serpenting road on the pass is saved for the sightseers only. Ngang Pass is well know in Vietnamese literature in a famous poem by Ba Huyen Thanh Quan.
