- Hiya. Neat username :) Martin
-
- Thanks, Martin. I think it's pretty punny. I've seen your entries on an awful lot of pages on my watchlist. Cool. -Paige
Hi Paige.
Hey, guess what, you're not the only TS Wikipedian. I'm one too.
However, I would add my name to the Queer section (if I had an account at meta), as I'm lesbian as well.
Anyway, good luck with your transition or what's left of it.
-- Kimiko 12:01 4 Jun 2003 (UTC)
- Hey Kimiko, thanks! Unfortunately, I still have a loooong ways to go with transition, but hey, it's getting better every day. You can still add your name on Meta, just put (en:User:Kimiko|Kimiko) as the tag, the same way Martin added my name to WikiWomen. (You should also add your name to that page, too!) Good luck to you too, even though I don't know your situation, but everybody needs all the luck they can get, right? Hugs, Paige 14:35 4 Jun 2003 (UTC)
Thanks for the tip. I've added my name to both WikiWomen and Queer Wikipedians.
My transition is proceeding nicely. I hope to have SRS later this year. I've made a simple User page so I'm not as anonymous anymore.
Funny how many of the same names show up on the pages of my watchlist as well..

Hi Paige, great poem! really made me laugh :) I think you have just invented a new art form with those WikiLinks. Anyway, I hope you are feeling well soon. Regards -- sannse 21:13 11 Jun 2003 (UTC)
- Thanks, Sannse. I'll replace the old text (along with your disamiguated link to French (language) - Thank you!), but I've been soooo bored at home these past two days. I don't get sick very often and I don't deal with it well when I do... If I'm still home all day tomorrow, I might do a Suess theme! Hugs, Paige 21:52 11 Jun 2003 (UTC)
Hello Paige
This is a Wikipedia:WikiLove for you. I took that picture last sunday.
I saw you were part of the m:WikiWomen club somehow. I see you did not choose the easy way :-). I wish you good luck. User:anthere
oh, and...paige is probably the ancient spelling for the attendant of the knight (spelling I was not even aware of :-)), but the modern word used for that ancient concept is even more simply page ;-)
- Hi Anthere,
- Thank you! That's a very pretty picture. All your flower pics are really amazing.
- And yeah, somebody nice added me to the WikiWomen list, which I thought was a really cool gesture. I sort of got here the only way I could, but the easy way would have been better as far as I'm concerned. No one actually consulted me first, so I've been sort of editing and revising the first version of me. :-P Thanks a lot for the warm welcome. I've really found most of the people here to be pretty great so far.
- I'm not even too sure of the history of the name Paige, other than it was originally a surname, of course. But it is certainly a variant of Page. (It's also not too far off from my former (given) name, so it was an easier adjustment.) Hugs, Paige 07:15 14 Jun 2003 (UTC)
Hey Paige! Great to hear that your parents are so supportive (mine are too :o) and that you feel good about being out. It really looks like it's going to be a good year for the LGBT communities (you forgot to mention same-sex marriage in Belgium). -- Kimiko 22:14 27 Jun 2003 (UTC)
- Hi Kimiko,
- Yeah, my parents are incredible. (It wasn't always that way, but all that matters is now, right?) And I feel great about my out-ness. It's like this huge pressure is off me and I can just concentrate on what matters and go through this process without trying to be secret agent girl. I've been partially out (as "gay," originally) for a long time, like 8 years, when I was with my ex-boyfriend, and I really haven't had too many problems. It was kind of weird, I started telling every one recently (except work, they're still very confused!), and as soon as I explained...all the reactions were pretty much the same: no one was shocked at all. I was even told, "It's not something I would have guessed in a million years, but as soon as you said it, it was like, okay, I can see that." I spent so long trying to hide it and act right...and here, I guess I wasn't doing a very convincing job at all!
- Sorry, I didn't know much about Belgium, but I think on the Chinese calender, this is the Year of the Gay Goat. It's so great! Obviously, I guess the same things are happening in Europe? Hugs, Paige 17:01 30 Jun 2003 (UTC)
Hehe. I know exactly what you mean. I got some reactions like that too, people who had thought I was gay (I am, but not that way :o), even a few who had guessed it when I had only told them there was something important that I wanted to talk about. I don't think I have tried to hide it very much though. I've basically been working towards this goal since I discovered it (at 21; I'm 26 now; SRS in four weeks, woohoo!). I guess it's different if you have known for much longer.
I don't think much is happening in Europe right now on the LGBT front. Belgium introduced same-sex marriages this year, the Netherlands did so in 2001, but I don't know of any other countries with plans in that direction.
Enjoy, Kimiko 07:25 1 Jul 2003 (UTC)
- Oh my gosh! Four weeks?! That is so great. I'm really, really happy for you...and jealous too, but mostly happy! :P
- 5 years, huh? Well, you sure earned it, girl. I'll be sending as much positive mental energy your way as I can and hoping everything turns out great for you.
- By the way, I think there is a bill in the UK about same-sex marriage too. Big hugs (and envious sneers), Paige 16:13 1 Jul 2003 (UTC)
I know how you feel (I've often been envious of others too). Your time will come soon enough. -- Kimiko 09:10 2 Jul 2003 (UTC)

- I believe that the current consensus is to only write articles on 9/11 victims if they are otherwise encyclopedic. Other victims can have articles on the September 11 wiki, but not here. As far as I know, this is still the guidelines. Tuf-Kat 22:45, Sep 17, 2003 (UTC)
"I really love the particular blue from the old Mug Cream Soda can (but NOT the crummy new one!). The closest I can pin it down as is a metallic treatment over (C=95, M=78, Y=17, K=5), which looked something like these colors, depending on how the light hit it, but metallic, of course." Ah yes, a fine choice :) -- I think the word you might be looking for is "anisotropic" blue -- its used in 3D rendering for things like hair, which have properties of shine and reflection in harmony with their form-- the movement of light on these surfaces is counterintuitive. -戴眩sv 21:48, Sep 19, 2003 (UTC)
- Say, thanks, 戴眩sv...I really didn't understand a word of that! :-) So...do you have an English version of that sentence? :-P Seriously though, aren't all matalic treatments like that? Hello
although I prefer the term Paige to Queer
I was not aware the term Paige had a meaning in english. It is not in my dictionnary. What does that mean ? Is it another word for Queer ? Anthère
- ^-^
No answer ? :-))) I'll ask Mav then. Anthère
- For those who are curious, the back-story is as follows: The list of lesbigay people was in shambles, so I suggested aligning the content of the page with the plainly worded cautionary header that had always been there (and has since been revised!) by removing those names which were not connected to existing articles (what good is it that the ONLY info about these people on the entire Wiki was that they were gay?!), I got totally reamed out for it (Martin stuck up for me though ^_^ ), and while I refused to "show my queer membership card" in order to be allowed to edit the article, I thought it would be funny to add my name, finally, to the List of Queer Wikipedians, where Mav (who always reminds me of Top Gun and therefore Tom Cruise and therefore makes me smile!) had written "although I prefer the term gay to queer. But I do understand that some think "queer" is somehow more inclusive; so here is my handle", which I always thought was funny, because the inclusiveness of the word queer as opposed to gay is that it includes me, which prompted me to write, "although I prefer the term Paige to Queer, I'm the T in LGBT...and perhaps one or two of those other letters as well" just in good fun. (And yes that was all one sentence, what're are you going to do about it? (And yes I did just start a sentence with "and" as well as construct a contraction out of "what" and "are," so there! HA!)) Paige 15:42, 25 Sep 2003 (UTC)
Saw your comment on the Venus Envy message board, which surprised me a little... and then I saw Dysprosia's on the very next page! I wonder if there's a correlation... :) Martin 18:46, 23 Sep 2003 (UTC)
- Hmmm...Why would my posting there be so surprising? Was it one specific post? Or just that you never figured me for the type of girl to frequent message boards? The WP doesn't take up all of my time, you know! And it's not as if the subject matter is completely outside of my sphere of interests, is it? But I only did start posting there recently. What I find kind of curious is that you were there! :) (Just kidding!) Paige 16:29, 24 Sep 2003 (UTC)
-
- And where would there be exactly? I have been following VE for a while now, but have never looked at the message board. I was curious about what you would write there, so I tried to look it up, but there are so many boards and messages that it seems impossible to find a specific message. -- Kimiko 07:40, 25 Sep 2003 (UTC)
- Well, I had been following it as well, and had noticed Dysprosia there and here, and she confirmed that she was one and the same, so I figured it can’t be all bad there. But it's a slow board and mostly populated by petulant young trans girls. I posted exactly four times there. Isn't that a great comic though? I got more interested in it because I'm working on my own webcomic/zine called Coping Mechanism, which also features two TG characters. BTW, how have you been, sweetie? Have things gotten any better? Paige 15:42, 25 Sep 2003 (UTC)
-
- I can see how it would appeal more to younger (~teenage) TSs. I recognized some parts of the story, but a lot is hard to identify with (not just because of the age difference; culture is important as well). Thanks for the link.
- It will be interesting to see what your new comic is going to be like. Or do you already have some samples up?
- Nothing new to report on the SRS front. My blood test results still aren't to the surgeon's liking. I'll have to wait and see what the internist comes up with. SRS might be before the end of this year, maybe early next year.

- VE is definitely aimed at least at those who transition younger, but I just think it's pretty funny. My own comic is much more comedic and less emotional, though. I hope it will also be more accessible to the average, mainstream, urban reader, since it is not just a TG comic, and deals as much with a gay male character and a straight, cisgender female one too (they're all roommates, blah, blah, hijinks ensue!). One of the reasons that I really don't have anything up yet is because I want to wait until I have the other parts of the site ready and at least ten finished strips, and I'm still working on some art and the alt text to make it accessible via text-to-speech. The art is killing me though, especially the comic-within-a-comic parts, but it's fun and it's been a good creative outlet for me lately.
- I'm sorry to hear things still haven't worked themselves out for you yet and I hope whatever the problem with your tests is, it isn't too serious. I know it must be frustrating for you. Having kidney problems myself, which stopped me from taking medical steps for years in the first place, I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact that SRS is a long shot at best for me (it took two years for my most recent open surgical site on my back to finally heal), so I just try not to dwell on it. I'll be hoping for the best for you, Kimiko. :) -- Paige 18:31, 26 Sep 2003 (UTC)
-
- Ah, can't you sneak in at least one cisgender lesbian? They're much more fun than straight women, you know :o) Besides, who else should our transgirl fall in love with :o)
- Re. the art, maybe you could feed your heroine a little more. She looks like she doesn't eat enough.
- Thanks for the good wishes -- Kimiko 21:13, 26 Sep 2003 (UTC)

- Ha-ha! But if my starlet fell in love - other than the unrequited kind - what would I do for a plot?! :-P As for her weight, though, the brutal truth is I can only draw skinny girls. (I'm not much of an artisté.) And, sadly, as the fourth or fifth comic reveals, the only curves Kristen has, she bought! :-) Poor girl. Paige 23:12, 26 Sep 2003 (UTC)

Well, you know, synchronicity - and I always find it a little strange to bump into someone I know elsewhere - small world of six billion people, isn't it? Martin 13:46, 25 Sep 2003 (UTC)
- I couldn’t agree more; King of Pain and Wrapped Around Your Finger are two of my favorite songs! Seriously though, that is pretty funny. I thought it was a little wacky that Dysprosia was there, but now I find out you and Kimiko are too?! <my best Johnny Carson impression>That is some wild, wild stuff.</Carson> Now, I can’t help scouring the board to see if Lucinda has posted anything! :) Paige 15:42, 25 Sep 2003 (UTC)

RE: The above comments/last night
Oh my! That is pretty embarrassing. I'm really sorry about that. My friends did not realize that people take the wiki seriously, and they meant no harm. In reality they are not vandals...just rather silly. It was my fault for leaving the computer logged in. It does not look like they hurt anything other than this page and my User page, and I hope that is the case. Sorry! - Thanks. In my defense, though, I did not have that much to drink. Did I mention how tired I was? I had been up since like 6:30 in the morning after getting only about four hours of sleep! Besides, I was in my own house with friends. That does not exactly make me George Thorogood. I will, however, accept the fact that I am a less than stellar culinary artisan (i.e. I have burnt soup before). :-P Paige 16:06, 29 Sep 2003 (UTC)

Yea, now instead of "IANAL" you'll get "TINMAOE"...that is not my area of expertise...LOL. The FF&C article is a fair enough summary, IMO...the Lawrence and DOMA material is relevant if not merely topical, but Scalia's dicta is not too noteworthy...and his concern is not especially persuasive. Further explanation that would help round out that article might include: why a state's actions is not enforced in another state under FF&C because of conflicting public policies; cite important historical (not just recent) precedents interpreting FF&C. If you want a good reference source for adding more material, you can always go to a law library and pull out the volume of the Corpus Juris Secundum dealing with FF&C. BTW pls don't mind me messing around on your user page, I'm just playing around.--B 16:28, 23 Oct 2003 (UTC)
