[edit] License tagging for Image:Halongvn.JPG
Thanks for uploading Image:Halongvn.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

[edit] Saigon Cinnamon
Hi, it's great to have your expertise on Vietnamese cuisine articles, which I also work on. Regarding your additions to Cinnamon, that article is only for "Cinnamomum zeylanicum." Could you move the info out of that article and into "Saigon Cinnamon"? It's a different species. Best, Badagnani 17:44, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
Hi Neweco, I'm very interested in Saigon Cinnamon (it's only recently becoming available in the U.S.). It's very good. I'm of the opinion that the species is probably very similar to Cinnamomum cassia (the spice usually sold in North America as "cinnamon," even though it's not true cinnamon. Can you help about this, though: I think in Vietnam Cinnamomum loureiroi is not the only species of cinnamon that is commercially grown, and there may be others. Do you have any information about this? Badagnani 04:04, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] An invitation
Dear Neweco, we're very pleased to have you here working on Vietnamese culture and cuisine articles. I'd like to invite you to join the new WikiProject Vietnam. Just add your name at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Vietnam (look down a little bit and you'll see a numbered list of editors, listed under "Participants"). We're working together to improve all Vietnam-related articles, and write new ones. Your input would be wonderful to have. Best, Badagnani 18:03, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Better source request for Image:Miquang.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Miquang.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talkpage. Thank you. bluemask (talk) 12:56, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:Vietnamdulich.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Vietnamdulich.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 18:30, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Non-free use disputed for Image:Thac ban gioc.jpg
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Thac ban gioc.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted after seven days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 01:41, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Van Mieu
I am a little concerned at your rather drastic edit of Van Mieu. I realise that Van Mieu is the generic Vietnamese term for a Confucian Temple, but the most famous one is in Hanoi and that is what the article was originally about. If you want to write about Vietnamese Confucian Temples in general, you might consider doing so at the main page on [[Confucian temples]. Dividing Confucian temples up on a national basis (Confucian temples in China, Confucian temples in Korea, Confucian temples in Vietnam) loses the essential unity of the phenomenon, a victory of nationalism over history.
If you feel that there is enough content to justify a general article on Van Mieu's in Vietnam, then this article might be a place to do it. But at the moment there is no such information. You have merely given us an article about the Van Mieu temple in Hanoi, and a whole string of empty section headings for Van Mieu around Vietnam.

Great job making new Vietnam ethnic groups articles. We'll have articles for all of them shortly, I think. I'll help link them properly. Badagnani 01:17, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Khang
Hi, the population you gave for the Khang people seems 6,000 higher than the Vietnamese Wikipedia article. Also, their language is Mon-Khmer, which would mean they're not closely related to the Thai people. Where did you get that information? Badagnani 17:23, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
It is very possible for the Khang to speak a Mon-Khmer language but live a primarily Thai lifestyle. It happens all the time. Like the Bahnar and Ede live in much the same way but one is Mon-Khmer and the other is Malayo-Polynesian. Or the way the Thai came south from China and adoped many Khmer customs hundreds of years ago. It's just the language I was primarily concerned with. I think there are just 7 more ethnic groups with no articles. Without hard work like yours, there would still be 20+ ethnic groups with no articles. Knowledge marches on! :) Badagnani 17:30, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Muongcongchieng.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Muongcongchieng.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.
For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 08:15, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Xinh Mun people
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Xinh Mun people, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}}
to the top of Xinh Mun people. — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 07:08, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:54ethnicgroupvn.jpg}
Thank you for uploading Image:54ethnicgroupvn.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:
-
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page.
