[edit] Subst

Resolved. Explanatory link is now in template.

What does subst'ed mean? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rtdrury (talkcontribs) 01:30, April 2, 2006

Substituted. By putting subst in a template title, for example {{subst:sometemplate}} the contents of {{sometemplate}} would be placed into the page when you hit save. Many infoboxes have been saved this way, necessitating their replacement. Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 03:34, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified improvement request

I don't entirely understand what this template is good for, except when some infobox template must be exchanged for a new one.

My request for improvements include the following:

  1. a link from the template to the articles talk page, where the editor can explain what wikiproject may be relevant,
  2. a more elaborate documentation explaining the scope of the template, and an example of how it is to be used,
  3. and:
  • a more specific message, if the template just regards some kind of music information obsoletion,
  • or a more general definition, if it is intended for general usage.

I'd like to add that it would be extremely useful to be able to have a parameter with which any infobox could be specified; perhaps such less frequent cases could be filtered into a category for all miscellaneous infobox conversions. –Unint 21:16, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
I'm going to see what I can do to make this template more useful to the community at large (inclkuding expanded documentation). I'd be happy to make any changes anyone would like but I'll need more specific requirements for what needs to be added. Adam McCormick 18:26, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
I've installed a talk page link, and added appropriate-use information to the documentation, as well as a see-also link to a related but differently-purposed template. — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 05:31, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] This page has a deprecated ...

Might the wording This page has a deprecated be changed to: This article has a deprecated ? Apparently there are some who think the template claims the talk page needs a new infobox. --Brad (talk) 18:24, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
