It should be noted that when WNBC adopted the News 4 New York title in 1980, it was actually the second time the slogan was in use. Previously, the newscasts bore the News 4 New York umbrella in 1971-72. New York-Metro TV Guide editions of the period used this title in ads promoting the newscasts (including one with Dick Schaap in an October 1971 issue), and a 1972 New York magazine article on former Cleveland mayor Carl Stokes at the point he came to WNBC as a co-anchor of the 6 P.M. edition (with Paul Udell) showed a picture of him at the news desk and "News 4 New York" was displayed on the top of the desk. –Wbwn 23:19, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
