I've removed the following from the Newhey article.

Newhey’s visionaries [including the then Headmaster of Newhey County Primary School]Samuel Mercer thought that the M62 would bring investment in industry and commerce. Unfortunately the opposite has occurred and there is very little on offer in the way of employment for the local population, who must either commute to the larger towns and cities in the area, or claim unemployment benefit.

The M62 was built in the 1970s, it's therefore very inappropriate to describe anyone from that era, especially a Primary School headmaster, as a 'Visionary' for a village that has a history spanning centuries. The statement regarding employment in Newhey is also strange as they are a healthy number of local businesses and Newhey isn't exactly isolated from neigbouring towns enough to cause people to claim employment benefit. It's within walking distance from Milnrow and about £1 on a bus to Shaw and Crompton. ~~ Pete 21:52, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Crompton Sewage Works

I am looking for information on the old Crompton Sewage Works which was across the River Beal at the end of Cedar Lane. This has since been filled in and the flows transfer down the valley to Rochdale Treatment Works.

I'll keep a look out for information relating to the sewage works. May I recommend however, to make sure you get a wider scope of people who may know about this subject, that you ask this question on the talk page for Shaw and Crompton. ~~ Peteb16 22:22, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Greater Manchester County Council Arms.png

Image:Greater Manchester County Council Arms.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
