[edit] Newfie stamps

FYI, on removal of link about newfie stamps--the newfie stamps themselves are interesting, but I, too, object to the fact that they are surrounded on all sides by commercial links. WP in general tries to avoid having links to commercial pages unless it's, for example, the home page of the company that the article is about. Elf | Talk 04:21, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] newfoundland-puppy-dogs.com

I've reverted this link for the 5th time since the first warning - to the user who keeps posting the site, i would ask that you stop, as it it is a violation of the External links guideline and wikipedia policies, thanks. - Trysha (talk) 19:47, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

I agree, the site is heavy on advertising, this site keeps being readded, unfortunately by different IPs. I believe it should stay that way unless consensus is reached otherwise. Alf melmac 19:52, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
I don't have strong feelings on it. The feelings I have, I expressed in my edit comment. Yeah, it's goofy and amateurish site and, yeah, I assume the anon who keeps adding the link is the person who runs the site and is trying to promote it. But I don't think it's typical linkspam and it's borderline-interesting. For one thing, the site is not, at least not at the moment, trying to sell anything directly. I'm sure he's trying to build traffic so he can convince people to put their ads on it, but that's not quite the same.
I'm sure you won't agree but if nothing else I'd think the page http://www.newfoundland-puppy-dogs.com/collecting-stamps.html is worthy of being linked, unless someone knows of a better site with similar content.
Just my $0.02. I'm not connected to the site in any way, BTW. But I plan to tell my wife about it, because I think she'll enjoy the site... Dpbsmith (talk) 21:15, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
I don't see any problems with that site whatsoever. It's much more informative to a layman than many other breed-specific sites, and beyond the homepage, there's no advertising at all. (UTC)

Who put they eat children in the intro? I took it out as no links were provided and it was obviously just a troll.

[edit] quotes

I added a quotes section, I thought it would be fun, and shed some more light on the breed. If you know/can find anymore quotes add them there. ABart26 09:04, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

Those quotes are great! --C-sonic 16:17, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Not Encyclopedic

This article is written like a grade school student telling their friend about a new puppy; the "you's" are in poor choice. Overall, I'd say this article could use a bit of a re-write. 64.246.144.52 23:56, 14 July 2007 (UTC)MaytrixInk

[edit] images

I removed the puppy image as it was improperly stamped with a link/credit and I removed the "female" image as the dog has an appearance that does not generally differ in regards to sex and it was a poor image. There was also a general crowding and stacking of images discouraged by WP:IMAGES and WP:IUP. VanTucky (talk) 18:42, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Someone should replace the main picture. Others may not have noticed, but it has an erection. I'm sure that's not the aim of whoever placed the picture on this page! :) Violet 23-April-2008 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.214.143.127 (talk) 01:04, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] shedding

we have a newfie/lab mix female, she very much looks more like a newfie than a lab. my question is in respect to shedding, is it exsesive, i understand they will shed, but.,...our dog seems like she's shedding too much. i tried looking it up and found nothing, so any comment on the "shedding" aspect would be very helping. her name is JYNX and she's 2yrs old, thanks for your help or comments. michelle marion, lincoln, nh. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.178.205.86 (talk)

[edit] History error

can someone check the history. By 1880 the lab had been imported to the UK for almost 100 years. So the statement that these dogs were found in 1880 is not accurate. Please crossref history and sources on labrador retriever for more. Some of the info there may be useful here. FT2 (Talk | email) 19:35, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
