[edit] Fourteen cards

This example hand: ♠Txxx ♥AJ ♦KTxx ♣KQxx) on which one might not show ones Spades after recieving a 1H response, has fourteen cards. Will in New Haven

[edit] Rebid question

Consider this other example hand:

  • ♠Axxx KQxx Jxx ♣Ax : planning to force to game, in either spades or notrump, (or, remotely possibly, diamonds)

It seems clear to me to rebid 3NT, not 2♣ here. Suppose partner has the other example hand which would have bypassed 1♠ (♠Txxx AJ KTxx ♣KQx. Do you really want to be in 4♠? And as noted, if partner has ♠Kxx AJx KQTxx ♣xx, 5 is nearly cold, while 3NT is hopeless on a club lead, but can you get there (or to 4)? Matchups 18:22, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
