I removed a picture of dubious origin from the main page as the only soldier with any discernible insignia was wearing the patch of the 42nd Infantry Division, as in the New York National Guard not the State GuardRastov (talk) 20:53, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Uniforms

Here is a link to a discussion on the NY Guard uniforms which was started elsewhere. User talk:67.84.98.124#1 --Cjs56 (talk) 01:34, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

As unarmed volunteers is there really an overwhelming need for combat uniforms? Of course there should be a strict differentiation between State Guard Uniforms and National Guard Uniforms as National Guardsman need to wear them in combat situations while State Guardsman can wear anything while directing traffic at sporting events. I was thinking of getting cute by linking caste but it really looks overblown to devote more than a sentence or two to this question. The sentence could end with something like "...and is resented". No need for a whole paragraph that whines about unfairness and speculates about consequences, much less a section. Meanwhile what is missing is a head count.
