[edit] Syracuse, Paris, and Trier: original American township names...

Isn't it worth mentioning that New Trier Township is named for the German city of Trier? 87.78.153.86 21:03, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

The article for Trier claims that New Trier was settled by immigrants from Trier. Makes sense, but I don't have a source for this.--Petzi1969 00:28, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
That is exactly it. You have to have a source to make a claim like that. Find a notable book or website (not a blog, or something to that extent) that states the history of the township to help you out with it.--Kranar drogin 02:34, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Ok, on the township's website is the history of the township [1]. You will have to download that book, and begin a history section. Make sure though that you cite everything in it similar to articles like Springfield, Illinois or Ogle County Courthouse. Both are GAs.--Kranar drogin 02:36, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] How in the world is New Trier still New Trier

Does anybody have any idea how this town kept its name through World Wars I and II? Is it simply that most people didn't realize that Trier was a town in Germany? Kitchener, Ontario would love to know. 156.56.168.28 (talk) 21:38, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
