[edit] Longest history of wine production in the US?

I would like to see a specific, credible inline reference to back up the statement "New Mexico has the longest history of wine production in the United States", which is the opening statement in the article. Specifically, such a reference would have to address the issue of the dates of introduction of vines to other Spanish-settled parts of the present USA. (Not promotional material from the state's growers please.) It is well documented that the conquistadores brought vines to South America already in the 16th century, so if they brought them everywhere they went, it's not immediately obvious that New Mexico was first in the US.
