[edit] Hat Discussion

The whole: two chinstraps on the hat make the uniforms look like S.S. uniforms... I don't get it. In the context of the page's history it doesn't seem like vandalism, but I'm not sure that making such a loaded comparison without a reference to back it up adds to the article. When I started this page I did not discuss the uniforms per se although I think it is helpful, however, I agree about the S.S. comparison and I think it should be removed.Editcml 20:59, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
The S.S. comparison was made again and I removed it since it really is very loaded and not needed. Editcml 15:15, 17 April 2006 (UTC) Discuss further if needed.

"A saucer-shaped cap (as opposed to a "Smokey Bear" hat worn in Delaware and Pennsylvania and a "Calvary" hat in New York) is worn". I'm not sure what this means. Does it just mean they wear a perfectly normal peaked cap? -- Necrothesp 12:42, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Without pictures of the three hats in question it is difficult to understand the differences. The point it makes is valid though. NJSP does have a unique hat compared to other state police.Editcml 20:59, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Acadamy Section?

I think the article needs a section about the State Police acadamy would anybody like to take that task on? Editcml 13:47, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

I ended up adding a section about the adademy myself, but it's rather basic so there is room for improvement. --Editcml 13:34, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Uniform Disagreement

There seems to be a disagreement as to the correct colors for the winter uniform. The old edit says the tie is black and the shirt is white, but a recent edit says the tie is blue and the shirt is light blue. Which is correct? Based upon the pictures on the NJSP website I would say black and white is correct.Discuss. --Editcml 14:02, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

After revewing pictures on the NJSP website, especially the Command Staff picturesthat shows the winter dress, I changed the shirt and tie color back to white and black. The shirt and tie colors appear, at least to me, to be a white shirt with a black tie. Discuss if needed.
The Uniform sectino was again edited to reflect a blue shirt and blue tie for the winter uniform. I still feel that white shirt and black tie is worn, but perhaps only by officers. This needs to be dealt with. --Editcml 13:43, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
I removed all references to the Winter uniform shirt and tie color, since nobody has been able to confirm for sure what those colors are. I decided to be color netural and simply mention that the dress shirt and tie were worn. Again, refer to the Command Staff pictures. The shirts seem to be white. --Editcml 20:12, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Infobox

I added an infobox. Add to it as needed.

[edit] Popular Culture

Added a section about popular culture. Please add to it.

[edit] Assessment

In the more long term, more information should be under each heading, and possily change the general orders section into prose as its not exactly something unique to this particular police force.

However, in the short term, I personally feel that this article shouldn't be bumped up to b class without a couple more images, and most importantly a references section. You have to list where this information comes from, regardless of how obvious or mundane the source.

Once that has happened, this article will be suitable for B class, and we will go from there to look at higher classes with further work :). Good work though!! SGGH 10:35, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

Also, some of the information from the intro should be in the history I feel, to give the introduction a more generic feel.SGGH
Some stuff to work on. Thanks for the input. --Editcml 16:58, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

No problem, leave a note on the project talk page, or on my own talk page when you have made any changes you're planning on, and i'll happily re-assess it for you. It looks good! SGGH 12:09, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

With the references, I'll put it up to B class as it has good content. More expansion, and perhaps an image of a police officer from the force, the headquarters, or some such would be good! SGGH 16:09, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
