I'm not too savvy with the editing, so if someone could please make a disambiguation page for 'The Palisades'...since they're cliffs on the Hudson River as well as a neighborhood in Washington, D.C.

Hmmm. I guess this should be New Jersey Palisades, and there would also be a link to Palisades (Manhattan) if necessary. I'm not going to do to the disambig right now, but I would support it if we're voting or whatever the cabal wants. --SPUI (talk) 07:33, 1 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Name change?

I have never been happy with New Jersey Palisades as the title for this article. I was perfectly happy with The Palisades, though I can understand why it needs a qualifier of some sort. While I reside in New Jersey, just a few miles from the Palisades (or is it the New Jersey Palisades), I'm not sure that New Jersey should be the qualifier. The article itself states that the cliffs continue for 20 miles in New York State, and New York Palisades would be just as appropriate. But my vote would be to move the article to Hudson River Palisades; it deals with the NY vs. NJ issue, and the line of cliffs follows the river, not any other border or feature. Any thoughts?—Preceding unsigned comment added by Alansohn (talkcontribs)

Totally agree with you, Alan. The cliffs do continue past the state line, and the park is called "Interstate" for a good reason. Daniel Case 17:30, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

The title is completely inappropriate and will never be "bought" by any serioulsy reading it, especially those who live in New York State. I vote for the Palisades or Hudson Palisades. Djflem (talk) 07:05, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Agreed. Nobody calls them the "New Jersey Palisades." I'd favor "The Palisades (Hudson River)" or some such, which is more in keeping with the Wikipedia custom--you don't invent a fake name for the thing the article is about, you use its normal name and append a parenthetical disambiguation in the article name.
